the perfect balance

Semi Custom suites begin with one of our library of designs, then we customize every element — from fonts and colors to envelopes, florals, and venue artwork — for a suite that feels uniquely yours without starting from scratch. This is the perfect balance between off-the-shelf and fully custom.

reworked design as semi-custom

inspo design from elated paper co. insta

The photos above show how a Semi-Custom design comes to life. The couple fell in love with the original custom suite (left) after seeing it on Instagram — they adored the overall look and feel but wanted to make it their own.

We adapted the design by creating a new stylized monogram, keeping the main invitation in letterpress, and switching the remaining pieces to flat printing to stay within budget. The suite’s overall layout and artwork were refined to fit their needs, including resizing pieces and updating the map’s accent color from soft green to a classic deep blue.

The result? A beautifully personalized suite that captures the spirit of the original design — tailored perfectly to their celebration.

From Custom to Semi-Custom

Our Approach

Semi Custom Process

01

Inquire & Get Inspired

Begin by completing the inquiry form — this helps me understand your needs, timeline, and which of my original designs caught your eye. From there, I’ll prepare a detailed quote that outlines your suite, upgrade options, and any possibilities for adding custom artwork.

02

Review & Connect

Once you’ve received your quote, you can move forward right away or schedule a quick chat by phone or Zoom. During our call, we’ll walk through your options together, talk through your ideas, and make sure I have a clear sense of your vision.

03

Reserve Your Date

When you’re ready to move ahead, you’ll officially reserve your spot on my design calendar by accepting the quote and paying the 50% deposit. After a few quick housekeeping items, we’ll dive into the creative process — selecting colors, fonts, paper, and any optional upgrades that make your suite uniquely yours.

04

Design & Collaboration

This is where the fun happens! We’ll collaborate closely to refine the details, adjust elements of the base design, and create something that feels both personal and beautifully cohesive. You’ll receive digital proofs along the way for feedback and approval.

05

Print & Delivery

Once your suite is finalized and approved, I’ll prepare the print files and send them to production. Your invitations will ship directly to you unless we’ve arranged assembly services. You’ll also receive step-by-step tips for assembling and mailing your suites — and I’m always just an email away if you have questions.

06

Celebrate

Once your invitations are in the mail, it’s time to sit back, relax, and get ready for the glowing compliments that will soon arrive from friends and loved ones!

Frequently asked

Questions

when do I mail my save the dates & invites

Save the dates can be mailed 9-12 months ahead of your wedding to give guests time to plan. Invitations can be mailed 9-12 weeks ahead of your wedding date with a response date of 4-6 weeks prior to the wedding. Destination weddings or weddings held over a holiday can be mailed 12+ weeks ahead of time.

how long does the process take?

The process usually takes 4-8 weeks from start to finish for semi-custom orders. Design is usually a 2-3 weeks and printing & shipping is usually 2-5 weeks for a total of 4-8 weeks.

can you send me physical samples?

While I don't offer physical samples of specific wedding stationery suites I have a sample paper pack that I'm happy to send along. Just email me with your address and I'd happy to drop it in the mail to you!

when do we start?

Invitations are mailed out typically 10-12 weeks before the wedding date. That being said, if you are planning a "destination" wedding mailing could be 12-14 weeks before the wedding day. To have the best experience possible the design process is best started 6-8+ months before the wedding.

do you offer envelope addressing?

Along with upgraded paper stock, envelope addressing is my most popular add-on. Designed with coordinating fonts and colors envelopes can be digitally printed. Envelope addressing is $1.75/ invitation and if this option is added an excel file for inputting your addresses will be provided. RSVP envelopes come pre-printed with your response address.

will my invitations come assembled?

When you receive your invitations, if there are any envelope liners, those will be adhered as part of our complimentary service. Detailed assembly instructions are provided to you once your order goes into production. You may choose to contract assembly services as well. Mailing services are not offered.

how does the design process work?

Once you’re booked, we’ll review the original design together and explore how to tailor it to your style and needs. From there, I’ll create your digital proof, and we’ll refine every detail until it feels just right. My goal is to make the process fun, easy, and collaborative.

what print options are available?

For all suites the base printing option available is flat digital printing. For semi-custom suites with design upgrades specialty printing can also be added for additional charges. Upgraded print types do require a longer lead time for production.

Digital printing ($) is flat printing where a digital image is transferred directly onto the paper. Digital printing allows for a quicker turnaround and use of multiple colors for the same price.

Thermography ($$) printing is where a powder is placed onto the paper and heated in a way to produced a raised effect. Thermography is priced by each added color.

Letterpress ($$$) printing is where a polymer plate is created of the artwork, inked and pressed into cotton stock to create a depression in the paper. This is a classic and beautiful print method and is also priced by color. A wide range of house inks are available and can be mixed with flat printing.

Foil ($$$) printing is where a plate is created of the artwork and metallic foil is pressed into the stock to create a depression in the paper. Foils are available in a variety of colors and can be mixed with both flat printing and letterpress printing.

how do i mail my invitations?

I highly recommend taking a completed suite to the post office for weighing. A variety of factors can alter the cost of mailing a suite. If you've added ribbon or other items that increase the depth of a suite there may be a postal surcharge added. Most suites will weigh between 2 - 4 ounces with the majority being in the 2 ounce range. Reply cards will typically take a first class (forever) stamp. Some post offices will hand cancel invitations for you however even when this is done suites may end up going through a machine at another sorting facility. When in doubt over-estimate your postage!

who knew the exact look to portray the timeless style of my wedding location, Newport, RI. I, of course, cried when I got the invites because they were even better in person.

I was so excited to find a local artist
